Haiti Mission Team

As I stated last post, we are in Haiti right now with a team from our sending church, Biltmore Baptist in Asheville, NC.  The week has been going great.  We have a construction team that has been building bunk beds for the orphanage that we partner with in Titanyen.  We will drive up there on Friday to assemble the beds.  The kids are so excited!  We have also been ministering to the orphaned children here in Jacmel that are part of our sponsorship program.  The kids are learning about Jesus and having a blast!

It is AWESOME to see our Mission House filled with these kids who are being taught from the Bible and learning to walk with Jesus.  It brings me so much joy to see how these kids are beginning to grow.  We want to continue this all the time.

Maria and I were crying last night as we were wrestling again with missing Susana. Our hearts ache so much.  We miss her so much.  We think about her all the time.   I’m telling you…It’s not just a daily fight to cling to God and walk by faith and not by sight, but rather something that we have to fight to do every minute.  But God is enabling us to grieve well.  We cry.  We wrestle. We agonize.  But we are not crippled by these things.  He gives us the grace and strength to press on and continue our own race.  Thank you to all who have continued to lift us up in prayer.

  1. God bless you guys with hope, strength, and faith… I can’t even begin to imagine just how painful and difficult your days must be. I think about you SO MANY times throughout the day! I look forward to joining you guys in Haiti again someday soon, Lord willing. I’m praying that He’ll open a door in the next few months – I can’t wait to partner with you on the ground again!

I will not cease in lifting you up each and every time God puts you on my heart – and that is very often!

  2. Cody, Maria, and Isabela,

You have been in my thoughts and prayers!! I continue to lift you all up to the God who supplies all we ever need. He is all we need. Great is His Faithfulness!! Praising God that He is sustaining you all. Let me know when you are all back in NC, so I can send Isabela something. Praying that your walk with the Lord stays strong and focused with a unshakeable mighty abiding faith. May Satan not get a foothold as you all grieve; he is on the prowl to seek and destroy, but I know the Lord holds you tight in His all sufficient arms. I am so encouraged by your strong abiding faith even in the midst of loosing your precious angel. I am wrestling with a lot right now, but so thankful to have my Heavenly Father to hold on to and rest in with the trials I face. He is in control and He is the victor!! All Praise, Honor, and Glory to Him!! I watched the service online; thank you for posting it; touched beyond words….. I emailed you, but not sure if you received it; I know your hands are full. I was very sad that I could not go to the service at the last minute to support you all; Jacob started vomiting that AM, and I did not have anyone to watch him, nor did I want to spread anything, just in case.. When I am discouraged, there is a verse, among many others, that really speaks to me and encourages me. Psalm 138:8a (His grace is sufficient..) “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me.” Also: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Praying for strength, comfort, wisdom, protection, and His all sufficient grace and mercy to dwell in you and surround you all.

Isaiah 40:29 “He gives power to the faint, and to Him who has no might He increases strength.”

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.”

Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”

Psalm 62:5-12 “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
    Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion;
in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God,
and that to You, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For You will render to a man
    according to his work.”

Psalm 9:10 “And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Nehemiah 8:10c “For the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
