Heading to Haiti

I am so excited!!!  I just booked my flight to Haiti and I leave in 2 days.  Woohoo!!!  Please pray that the riots do not start up while I’m there.  I will be there until Monday.  I am so excited that I will be able to bring all the gifts that have been purchased for all the kids in our sponsorship program.  They are going to be thrilled!!!  We are also going to be able to distribute the hundreds of gifts that were purchased by the mission team from Grace Fellowship in Atlanta that was supposed to come in December but was cancelled because of the riots.  I’m also planning on having a Christmas Party with all of the kids of Victorious Kids Orphanage in Titanyen, where we are now ministering.  So, this is going to be a great trip.  I am so excited!!!!

Please pray for my safety as well as for Maria and the girls who will still be in Jacksonville continuing with Susana’s proton therapy treatment.

Family Update –  We had a wonderful Christmas in Jacksonville!!!  The girls woke us up with excitement to get down to business.  We started out by reading the account of Jesus’ birth found in the Book of Luke.  Then we each prayed and gave God thanks.  And then the kids were off to the races.  Thank you to those who sent gifts for the kids.  It was such a blessing.  We really had such a great time together.

After the madness subsided and Maria and I soaked our hands from having to untwist so many twisty-things that held dolls and toys SECURELY in their package, we got ready to head down to Orlando to see Maria’s family.  From that point on, it was all about the Puerto Rican Christmas baby!!!  We had an awesome time.  It was the first time that me or the girls ever celebrated Christmas latin style.  It was a huge party with salsa music blaring, people dancing and singing spanish carols, people playing maracas and other island instruments, people stumbling, kids running around all over the place, enough rice and beans to feed a small village in Africa, and a whole entire pig roasting for hours, looking juicier and juicier by the minute…hmmmm.  Yes, it was definitely a cool experience, not to mention that the temperature was a nice mild 70 degrees.

Susana is doing wonderful.  Her treatment is going well.  It is very easy.  It is all outpatient.  Her hair is starting to grow back.  And she is just looking great.  We just continue to pray that the Lord works His mighty power and heals her from this cancer forever.  Thank you all so much for your love, support, and prayers.  God has covered us well.

  1. Hey Cody. Gwenn and I are heading to the airport early on Monday as well. Let me know if you’d like to share a ride.

  2. sounds good Nick…I’ll let you know. I might already be in Titanyen by Saturday. It depends on whether I go to Titanyen for the first 2 days and then Jacmel, or Jacmel first and then Titanyen for the last 2 days. I’m leaning towards going to Jacmel first just in case riots start up again later in the week. That way, I’ll be in Titanyen and closer to the airport by the end of the week. Any word about election results coming out? I’ll stop by and say hello when I’m there. Peace

  3. Cody,

    I will be praying for safe traveling mercies for you and a successful, blessed trip! Praying also for peace in Haiti, no more cholera outbreaks, and excellent results of the election, and for continued grace and provision, and success of the treatments for Susana, and great health for Maria, you, and the girls. Praise God for an AWESOME, and wonderful report on Susana! I thought the items I sent would be helpful on keeping her occupied/busy during times of fatigue or “rest” times, and other times. My son LOVES that “Snip It” book. I hope the crying baby doll didn’t go off and scare the postal people. 🙂 I am so glad you all had a wonderful Christmas. PRAYING!!

    God Bless,

    “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

    “I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
    no tender voice like thine can peace afford.
    I need thee, O I need thee;
    every hour I need thee;
    O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.

    I need thee every hour; stay thou nearby;
    temptations lose their power when thou art nigh.

    I need thee every hour, in joy or pain;
    come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

    I need thee every hour; teach me thy will;
    and thy rich promises in me fulfill.

    I need thee every hour, most Holy One;
    O make me thine indeed, thou blessed Son.”

    Oh LORD, Abba Father, to trust in You more, Oh to TRUST in You MORE, no matter what we face, with our Whole heart and mind, more of You Lord…MORE of You. Bind Your Word in our hearts, that we may live a life pleasing and honoring to our Holy Heavenly Father, and be fruitful as we labor for You in the furtherance of Your kingdom. Move in us, in a mighty way; may “mountains”, enemies, temptations and trials NOT hinder our walk with You. GREAT IS Your Faithfulness!! We LOVE You LORD!! AMEN!

    “Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
    Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in endless praise.
    Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love.
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
    Take my voice and let me sing,
    Always, only for my King.
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
    Take my silver and my gold,
    Not a mite would I withhold.
    Take my intellect and use
    Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
    Take my will and make it Thine,
    It shall be no longer mine.
    Take my heart, it is Thine own,
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
    Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.”

    “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

  4. I’ve heard rumor of election results on the third 🙁

    But they normally don’t release stuff like that until the afternoon so we should both be out by then.
