2010 was definitely and unforgettable year for our family. We couldn’t have done anything without God’s grace and mercy and the love and support He supplied through you. We are so thankful to Him. And we are equally thankful to you. In the midst of our joys and trials you stood right beside us to hold us up as we took each step in our journey. It has been amazing! I (Maria) have seen more miracles this year than any other time in my whole life. I know Cody can say that with much confident too.
I love the Bible. I love reading and studying the Bible. And in years past when Christmas time came and it was time to submit my “list” to family members for things I really really wanted my list never failed to include a lengthy complicated Bible study that would launch me into months of long exegesis of biblical truth. I am just addicted to the Word of God and I can’t help it. I am not boasting. I am just getting ready to tell you that in all my years of consuming myself with Bible knowledge I have not learned as much about God as I did in 2010. Not because I read it. Or study it. But because He took me through it. I lived it.
I saw Him part Red Seas in my life. I experienced His mercy first hand. He made Psalm 145 real to me when He opened up His hand to satisfy me with good things. He made me believe more, through real life experience, that I don’t need to worry about what to wear, what to eat, where to stay, and so forth. He is showing Himself the healer of my marriage, my family, my daughter. Years of study cannot do that. They can show you how it worked in the life of Moses or Joseph or Judah or Isaiah, but they are not real tangible truths until you are walking in them.
So I encourage you not to underestimate your circumstances and your pain. God wants to show you HIMSELF. He wants to prove to you He is real. He loves you. He is with you. And He will hold you tight because you are His. The promise behind Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” is found in Romans 8:29, “For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”
Don’t miss it! The greatest purpose for your joys and your trials is to be conformed into the image of Jesus. This is the goal of all that comes your way. Let it have its perfect work in you that in all things God is glorified through you.
I am praying for you! I pray 2011 is an amazing year for you. And that together we can shout to the world that Christ is King even though we may not feel like it. I need you to hold my hands up high so that I can praise Him. I will be here holding yours. I love you all.–Maria
Happy New Year!
