WE can never beat cancer…

…But GOD can!!!!

This is what we must never forget.  God is the One who is all powerful, not us.  We put ourselves in a dangerous place the minute we start talking about us “beating it.”  Seriously, I have heard too many people use the expression, “I beat cancer” or “We beat cancer.”  I cringe when I hear that because I know that we can never beat cancer, only God can.  We are powerless in and of ourselves.  We cannot do anything.  We are far too weak and far too flawed.  And the minute that we start saying “I beat it” or “We beat it” is the minute that we rob God of His glory.  And the Lord makes it very clear throughout scripture that He “will not share His glory with another.”  God alone deserves all the glory when healing takes place.  So, may we rid ourselves of such expressions that steal from His glory.  It is not “I” or “We”, but God alone.  To Him be the glory.

Well, Susana is getting ready to be discharged tomorrow after being inpatient for a month.  She is doing really good, and we give all praise and thanks to God for sustaining us through these difficult times.  It has been very challenging for all of us.  I wish that I was more of a rock this last month, but the truth is that I was more like jell-o…all over the place in my emotions.  But, I am so thankful to the Lord who is my rock and I can always run to Him.  He has been so faithful.  “God is our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in times of trouble.”  (Psalm 46:1)

We will be outpatient now at Duke for the next 7 to 10 days just to make sure that everything is ok.  After that, we head down to Jacksonville, FL for her proton therapy.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.  We are so blessed that we do not walk this journey alone. – Cody

  2. Thank you for your eloquent expressions, Cody, and for your utter transparency before us, the world. How God is using you – it defies description! The power of Christ is plainly at work in you and your family. I too have cringed at the expressions people so freely use whenever they have come through a bitter valley with victory. Now more than ever, we as Christians MUST stand up and declare His glory,His power, His almighty reign, His majesty. Soli deo gloria!!!

Keeping you in my prayers before Him, who was and is, and is to come. Hallelujah!!!

  3. God Bless you Cody and Maria!
