Good News is Always…Good

Praise the Lord for the good report that the doctor gave us today.  He said that the images and scans taken after the 1st round of chemo already show that the tumors are significantly decreasing in size!  Oh, how my heart rejoiced when I heard this.  He said that he is really impressed with how Susana is responding to the treatment.  He said that she looks great and it is a very good sign that she is eating so well and is very active. She has also gained a few pounds.  So, today we rejoiced in the good news.

When Susana and I (Cody) got in the car after the appointment, the first thing that we did was pray and give thanks to God for the good news and ask Him to continue to work in her body and bring complete healing.Susana will start her second round of chemo on Monday.

Today is a day to rejoice and I thank you all who are rejoicing with us, but let’s continue with even greater fervency in our prayers that this is only the beginning and that the Lord will bring about complete healing in her body for the glory of His name.

We are living our lives in trusting in the goodness of God when things are good AND when things don’t look good at all.  Just like Job stated after he learned of all the calamity that fell upon him in an instant, “The Lord has given and now the Lord has taken away. May the name of the Lord be praised.”  Job gave glory to God when things were good and he gave glory to God when things were bad.  And so we too are seeking every day to give glory to God in ALL situations.  So, we love the fact that we give Him glory today upon hearing the favorable report, but we also resolve ourselves to give Him glory if or when a report comes back as less than favorable.  Our hope is not in the report that can change in an instant, but rather in a faithful and loving God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  he never changes and has no shadow of turning at all.  Christ is the solid rock on which we stand.

We rejoice today and are so thankful to receive the good news.  All glory belongs to Him!!!

  1. Blessed be the name of our LORD! I am so excited to hear this news about Susana. God is amazing and continues to do incredible things each and every day – miracles~
Just last night as we were having our family devotions, praying for so many things and also for our future church building I called out to God and spoke this verse from Job. Wherever we are at, whatever our journey, God has moments when in our lives He chooses to give, and there are times that we don’t understand when He seemingly takes away (as if it was ours to begin with). But His name is to be praised, for all good gifts come from the Father, anyway, and He is our provider and sustainer. We are so very happy, Cody & Maria, to hear this great, great news about Susana. We are praying for her, for Isabela, for you guys (your whole family) every day and I (Zeida), have had so many opportunities to share about your journey that you are traveling through right now and God has used those moments in wonderful ways to lead into discussion about the Lord and His love for us.
We are encouraged, we are so very happy for you all, and we look forward to hearing all that God is going to do in and through your lives.
    God bless you guys!
    Love, Jorge, Zeida and Jordan

  3. Dear Cody and Maria,

Your family have been in our prayers. We rejoice with you that the chemo is doing it’s job and God is guiding every step of the way. You did a great job explaining cancer and chemo. When Joel was diagnosed we used the pacman example. (Obviously years ago.) Kids can grasp it. I do love their joy in life. They keep on playing, living, laughing and loving! May we all be more like children trusting our heavenly Father in all things.

Your light is shining in a whole new mission field than you ever expected, or desired. Stand firm in the faith and be strong, drive your roots deep in the Lord and trust Him minute by minute.

  6. I just recently found out about sweet Susanas story and immediately wanted to help and spread the word! I have donated a stroller for the auction and spread the word online to my social media world that can really spread the word — facebook & twitter!

I also put a special post on my blog —

I am glad my company was able to donate the stroller and wish there was more we could do!

Right now I am just trying to get the word out for your family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

  7. Praise God for the great news!!! The Word of God is working in her body and bringing about health and healing! Continue to stand firmly upon the promises of God. His Word CANNOT and WILL NOT fail you. Healing belongs to all of God’s children because Galatians 3:13 says that Jesus has REDEEMED us from the curse of the law. The curse of the law not only concerned sin but sickness as well. You have to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it IS God’s will to heal Susana. That is why our son is now HEALED from neuroblastoma. We refused to accept defeat, no matter what. You are constantly on our minds and in our prayers. God is FAITHFUL!!!! Much love to you guys, Misty Floyd
