Susana Needs Prayers!!!!

Susana is sick.  She is in Miami Children’s Hospital with Maria right now.  The doctors did many tests and some of these tests are showing some great concern.  They found a mass in her stomach that is malignant.  They found swollen nymphnodes.  She has been extremely lethargic and has not wanted to eat or drink for almost 2 weeks, although we made sure she was eating and drinking.  Our hearts are extremely heavy right now…the only thing we can do in this moment is cry out to the Lord who is our sufficiency in ALL things.  Please keep ouir little one in your prayers.

I am flying back to Miami immediately with Isabela.  The doctors have said that if they have to do further tests to determine if the mass has spread and that will determine if they need to begin chemo.  They said that if she does need chemo, they are asking us to commit for an indefinite amount of time to remain in the Miami area so that she can get the best treatment.

This is all happening in an instant for us.  We are sad, confused, and full of anxiety.  Please keep all these things in your prayers.  Thank you

  3. Whittaker Family,

We will be keeping you in our prayers! It is so hard to have a sick child. We know exactly how to pray for you!

    Psalm 33
18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

  5. Cody and Maria – PLEASE know that I am praying intensely for you all…especially little Susana. What a precious gift she is, and I know that the Lord thinks of her constantly. I can only imagine how scary and difficult this must be – actually…I can’t imagine. But we love you guys and are praying non-stop. I’ve prayed for complete healing in the form of a miracle! And I’m praying that God will give wisdom and knowledge to the medical team in Miami. I know that God called you all to the mission field in Haiti – I’m praying that He’ll return you there in His perfect timing.

What else can we do for you now? Please let us know…

    Love you guys…Lance

  14. Hi, I heard of Susana’s prayer need from Mark Stuart’s Facebook page. I am praying for her and the rest of your family and reposted it on my profile. A friend of mine sent me this info and I wanted to share it. Not sure if you’re wanting to stay in Miami, but this is in Memphis…. “Jill I was reading the blog about Susana. I dont know if you have a way of contacting the family but I just wanted to let you know that in feb when they told us that they thought Emileigh had luekimia we checked things out and the type of cancer that Susana has is one of the main types they treat at St Jude in Memphis and they have the highest success rate. They dont charge the famileis for treatment if they cant stay and they also house all family members! It is a great place…only catch is that to be treated there you can not have had any treatment anywhere else because it is a research hospital. So if you have a way of getting this info to the family fast it just may give them another option… I just am sure that they will start treatment very quikly and wasnt sure they knew about St Jude!
We’ll continue to pray for healing and strength and share the prayer need with others.

  15. Please know that I am praying for Susanna and have sent the request on to all my internet prayer warriors. Praying for wisdom for the doctors and the perfect hospital for Susana! Praying for God’s awesome peace to surround you all during this very difficult time. He is our healer!

  16. Hi from Tommy and Sandra Boone. We are in Marty Hillyer’s class at Biltmore and met you there. Our son and his wife are missionaries in Jinja, Uganda. I want you to know that my heart exploded with pain as I read the news about sweet Susana. I can’t even imagine how you as parents are feeling. I am grieving with you and praying for you. Our love and prayers will be with ever remembrance!!

  17. One other thing! Do you know Wesley and Jamie Greene at Biltmore. Their little boy, Owen, was diagnosed with the same cancer about 1 1/2 years ago. He was surgically and chemo treated in Asheville. You might want to talk to them. I will share your info with them and pray with you as you make the decision as to where you want to take Susana for treatment. WE would SELFISHLY like for you to return to Ted and Tootie’s house so we could help out! Much love!

  18. I am praying for Susanna, and passing the word on to everyone that I see to do the same. We are praying for a complete healing for Susanna, and for peace and comfort for her family during this process. Please continue to update as you can. God bless you!
